in Netscape it seems as if only 16 colours are available.

A FONT COLOR Hex-code is defined by 3 components (Red Green and Blue)
The red can be 20, 40, 60, 80 or 100 %
So can the other colours
The above matrix shows the colour the FONT will have if you use these values.
Anything else will not work unless the reciepient have a monitor capaable of showing more than 256 colours.
The hex-vale for 0, 20, 40, 60, 80 resp 100 % are 00, 33, 66, 99 CC and FF
They are defined in the order Red Green Blue
A colour that is defined as 40%Red 20%Green and 60%Blue thus have the value of FONT COLOR ="#663399"
